Mitch Winehouse says the 'Born This Way' star would be "great" if she portrayed Amy in the planned biopic.
Amy Winehouse's father has given Lady Gaga approval to portray his late daughter on screen in a proposed film biopic about her life.
Mitch Winehouse has heard rumours the 'Born This Way' singer is keen to play Amy in a planned film based on the 'Back To Black' singer's rise to fame, and says he thinks she would "be great" in the role.
"We were invited to Tony Bennett's birthday party and we sat on a table with Lady Gaga's mum and dad," Mitch revealed to the Sunday Mirror. "They are just normal folk and very lovely people.
"I have heard that Lady Gaga is keen to play Amy in a film," he revealed. "I don't know what her English accent is like but it's not just an English accent she would have to perfect - it's an English-Cockney-Jewish accent so she better start practicing now."
Mitch added: "But she would be great."
Lady Gaga was one of several celebrities who payed tribute to Amy following her death in July when she posted a message saying the singer had "changed pop music forever".
Amy Winehouse's posthumous album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures', which features demos and unreleased material recorded by the late singer, was released at the beginning of December.
