Katy Perry On Split From Ex-Husband Russell Brand: "He Didn't Like Me Being The Boss"

The 'Firework' singer says she hasn't heard from the comedian since he text asking for a divorce.

Katy Perry has finally opened up about her split from ex-husband Russell Brand, saying she found out the "real truth" towards the end of their romance and admitting the two haven't spoke since.

The 'California Gurls' singer, who was married to the British comedian for 14 months before their divorce last year, says she didn't hear from Russell again after he text her to say he was applying for divorce.

"He's a very smart man, a magical man and I was in love with him when I married him," Katy revealed to Vogue US this month. "Let's just say I haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing me December 31, 2011."

"I have to claim my own responsibility in things, I do admit that I was on the road a lot," she explained. "At first when I met him he wanted an equal, and I think a lot of times strong en do want an equal, but then they get that equal and they're like, 'I can't handle it'.

"He didn't like the atmosphere of me being the boss on tour, so that was really hurtful," Katy continued. 'I felt a lot of responsibility for it ending but then I found out the real truth, which I can't necessarily disclose because I keep it locked in my safe for a rain day."

The 'Teenage Dream' singer also admitted she was hurt when she realised Russell had been using her and their relationship as material for his stand-up shows.

"He started making jokes about me and he didn't know I was in the audience, because I had come to surprise him at one of his shows," the US star added.

Katy Perry is widely rumoured to be dating Twilight star Rob Pattinson now, after a brief romance with John Mayer.
