The 'I Kissed A Girl' singer and her comedian husband's argument was cause of the extreme separation.

Katy Perry is reported to have spent Christmas Day away from her husband Russell Brand because the pair had a huge row.

The 'California Gurls' singer was pictured in the sea of Hawaii at the same time comedian posed for pictures on a Cornwall beach 7,000 miles away.

A source told US Weekly magazine details of the argument, they said: "She was like, 'F*** you. I'm going to do my own thing.' "

The American star was also spotted without her wedding ring as she relaxed on the tropical beach.

The source added that this isn’t the end of the relationship, stating: "They haven't split up just yet, but things are not good. The fighting is getting worse."

Rihanna recently spoke about her admiration for Katy calling her a "legend" and explained that she sympathised with the constant relationship gossip rumours.
