The 'Teenage Dream' singer is set star opposite her actress friend Shannon Woodward in the FOX comedy series.
Katy Perry has been announced as a guest star in a brand new episode of the FOX comedy Raising Hope.
The 'California Gurls' singer will appear in the March episode 'Single White Female Role Model', it was confirmed yesterday (22nd February).
Katy will star as Rikki, a prison attendant who is also an old friend of Shannon Woodward's character Sabrina, and uploaded a picture of herself in character to Twitter last night which she later posted to Shannon.
"Shannon Woodward is my best friend," Katy said in a statement announcing the appearance. "A couple weeks ago, I was home, just toasting up a frozen chicken fillet when she called me up and asked if I wanted to do something 'fun' for a change and try out a guest role on her TV show.
"I thought, 'Sure, I have nothing else to do and I like chillin' with my best friend."
"Shannon Woodward told me that her friend Katy was interested in doing an episode and I thought, 'Why not? Let's do your friend Katy a favor," executive producer Greg Garcia said in a statement. "Then she came in and did a terrific job.
"She was hilarious. And now people are telling me that Katy is also a singer. I sincerely hope that her appearance on the show helps her get her singing career off the ground. It's a tough business."
The 'Teenage Dream' singer is currently preparing to launch the deluxe edition of her 2011 sophomore album, which has been retitled 'Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection' and is due out on 26th March.
Katy Perry's guest appearance in Raising Hope will air on FOX on 6th March.
