The 'California Gurls' singer wanted to emulate the 'Girl Gone Wild' star's infamous 1991 concert film.

Katy Perry has named Madonna as the inspiration behind her decision to release a 3D concert movie.

The 'Firework' singer will release Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D this summer, chronicling her 2011 'California Dreams' world tour, and says she was inspired to make the film by Madonna's own 1991 concert film In Bed With Madonna.

"Madonna is everything to me, and that movie is amazing, because it caught her at a time when she was a bit more vulnerable," Katy told the Daily Star this week.

"I wanted to do that too," the 'Teenage Dream' singer explained. "To capture a snapshot of who I am now so that I can remind myself what I've lost if I ever do become totally jaded."

In Bed With Madonna, better known as Madonna: Truth Or Dare in the US, chronicles behind-the-scenes of the 'Give Me All Your Luvin' singer's 1990 'Blond Ambition' world tour.

Katy Perry is set to release Katy Perry: Part Of Me 3D on 4th July Independence Day weekend.
