The Hollywood star and the singer star alongside each other in the new baseball movie.
Clint Eastwood has been a fan of Justin Timberlake for years according to The Trouble With The Curve director Robert Lorenz.
The man behind the camera admitted he got Clint's seal of approval before casting the former N*Sync star.
"I went through my casting choices —I kind of ran them by Clint. Justin was somebody I liked. It was easy for Clint, because he's been a fan of [Timberlake]. [Clint] has watched him on "Saturday Night Live" for years," he told MTV News.
He continued: "I don't think he's familiar with the rest of his film work, but that much he was. He thought it was a terrific idea when I brought it up, and he went for it. On the set, he enjoyed Justin's energy and his sense of humor."
The new film sees the Hollywood legend play a baseball scout who fights with Justin's character on finding the best talent in the sport.
The 'Sexy Back' singer was reportedly very keen on any feedback from the director – who praised the ideas Justin would bring to the film.
"Justin, being younger and not having as much experience, was definitely more interested in feedback and hashing out the scenes and the character and what was happening within each one, but he had great ideas that he brought to the film and his role, many of which I was happy to incorporate and made his role really come alive," he added.
Meanwhile, the singer is also filming alongside Ben Affleck in the new film Runner, Runner and was recently reported to have wed his fiance Jessica Biel in a secret ceremony.
