The Spider-Man actor insists he wasn't trying to "diss" the Canadian singer with the lip-synching footage.
James Franco has issued an apology to Justin Bieber for a video he made alongside Ashley Benson, where he lip-synched the singer's hit single 'Boyfriend'.
The 127 Hours actor uploaded the parody clip to his WhoSay account earlier this month, but said he took it down because he didn't think the Canadian was "too happy" with the footage.
"I was asked to take it down by some people," he told E! online during the Sundance Film Festival. "Bieber didn't contact me, but I don't think he was too happy."
During the clip, James wears a wig with Ashley dressed up as Justin's on/off girlfriend Selena Gomez.
The actor added that it was never his intention to make fun of the singer or his track.
"I wasn't trying to diss him," he said.

James stars alongside Selena Gomez in the new movie Spring Breakers and was last year forced to deny claims that he was dating the female star behind Justin's back.
Meanwhile, Justin Bieber is currently preparing to release his new acoustic album and looks set to overtake Lady Gaga as the most powerful person on Twitter.
