The 'Love Me Again' singer-songwriter says his aim is to follow in Adele's footsteps by releasing a "classic" record.
John Newman has promised his debut album will be full of "classic singles" like Adele's first two records.
The 'Feel The Love' singer, who has often spoken of his admiration for the 'Someone Like You' singer, says he is working hard to make sure his debut is seen as a "classic" record once it launches.
"I've finished writing the album and we think there are nine singles there," John declared to the Daily Star this week. "It's like the Adele album, it's full of classic singles.
"But we need to bring it into a collection that makes it a classic album too," the 'Love Me Again' singer explained.
Earlier this week John spoke exclusively to Capital Breakfast and admitted he would love to write and record a song with fellow UK star Adele, hailing her "amazing" voice and "crazy" songwriting skills.

The Summertime Ball 2013 performer also praised the music scene in Britain at the moment after stars like Disclosure and Rudimental have made a huge impact on the charts over the past year.
"You look a year back and every hit was generic and all the R&N artists were going down the Guetta dance route," he added. "Now there's Disclosure, Duke Dumont and even Rudimental, real artists producing music that you can play in a nightclub."
John Newman's new single 'Love Me Again' is on course to chart highly on the Vodafone Big Top 40 this weekend and his debut album is expected in October this year.
