In a new interview, Harry Styles opened up about why he passed on the chance to play Prince Eric in Disney's upcoming like action remake of The Little Mermaid.
Casting for Disney's upcoming live-action Little Mermaid movie is in full swing with Halle Bailey confirmed as the film's star, Ariel. Melissa McCarthy will play the role of Ursula in the remake and casting rumours have even attached Awkwafina and Jacob Tremblay to the project (however, nothing is confirmed yet).
Other than Ariel, the most anticipated casting announcement has to be that of Prince Eric. 13 Reasons Why star Christian Navarro revealed that he has auditioned for the role. But another famous face was tapped as a favourite to play Prince Eric long before Christian publicly declared his interest. Harry Styles reportedly passed on the role back in August, and now he has explained why.

In an interview with The Face, Harry acknowledges that he "discussed" joining the cast as Prince Eric, however, for the moment his priorities are on music.
"I want to put music out and focus on that for a while," he told the publication. "But everyone involved in it was amazing, so I think it’s going to be great. I’ll enjoy watching it, I’m sure."
Well, Harry can't be blamed for wanting to focus on one thing at a time.
Harry recently revealed some details about his upcoming second solo album, a follow up to the singer's self-titled 2017 debut.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Harry previewed the album's vibe, saying: "It’s all about having sex and feeling sad." Relatable king.
So far, Disney has been tight-lipped about who else they're considering for the role of Prince Eric.
