Noah Cyrus cries over first Grammy nomination
"I am mortified that I used a term without knowing the context and history, but I know now and I am horrified and truly sorry."
Noah Cyrus has apologised for using racist language whilst trying to defend Harry Styles.
Last month, the 'Watermelon Sugar' singer received negative comments from political commentator Candace Owens for wearing a dress on the cover of US Vogue. Candace claimed that Harry's fashion choices were part of the "steady feminization of our men" and said we should "bring back manly men". Harry responded by using "bring back manly men" to caption his photo.
Noah tried to show her support by sharing Harry's Vogue image to her Instagram Story with the caption: "He wears this dress better than any of u nappy ass heauxz."

Nappy is a derogatory term used to describe the kinky texture of Black people's hair. Meanwhile heaux basically means hoe, a person that sleeps with a lot of people.
Noah was criticised for using the phrase which has a lot of racist connotations and has historically been used to insult Black women.
Candace herself responded on Twitter too, writing: "Any one of woke liberals care to explain to me how @noahcyrus calling me a 'nappy ass hoe' is not racist? I’m all ears. You guys love cancel culture. @MileyCyrus come get your sister!"

Following the backlash, Noah apologised for her comments on Instagram. She wrote: "I am mortified that I used a term without knowing the context and history, but I know now and I am horrified and truly sorry."
"I will never use it again. Thank you for educating me. I in no way meant to offend anyone. I am so so sorry."
