Halsey claps back at accusations she "ripped off" The 1975 with her Manic tour

The 1975 fans have accused Halsey of "stealing from" their A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships and Music for Cars tours.
Halsey has shut down accusations that she's copied The 1975's Music for Cars tour stage and set design on her Manic tour.
It seems like almost every day one artist is accused of ripping off another. Just last year, Camila Cabello faced backlash after fans believed that she "stole" Halsey's hopeless fountain kingdom merch designs and aesthetics with her Romance era. Not to mention, that same month, people accused Halsey of copying Lady Gaga's 'You & I' with 'Finally // beautifully stranger'.

Now, Halsey is facing backlash for allegedly "stealing from" The 1975 with her Manic tour and she's having none of it.
Yesterday (Mar 9), a variety of tweets went viral in which The 1975 fans called out Halsey for her Manic tour set. One person tweeted: "The bad artists imitate, the great artists steal." alongside photos of Halsey and The 1975 on tour, both performing in front of three yellow rectangular screens.
Another fan added to copying claims by writing: "halsey copying the 1975 has happened for a while but this isn't "inspired" anymore. the 3 rectangular boxes has been a staple since the 1975 started their abiior tour & the eye is very similar to the girls setup.. why can't she be original."

Noticing the backlash, Halsey took to Instagram Stories to dismiss it. She posted the photo of her in front of three yellow screens with the caption: "This is one second of a song where every color of the rainbow flashes repeatedly. Get a grip." She's got a point, your honour.
Halsey's fans also defended her. One person tweeted: "u guys know that the 1975 didn't invent rectangles right". Another added: "The 1975 aren’t the first ones to have three rectangles as their stage set up, stop looking for reasons to shit on Halsey".

While there are similarities between Halsey's and The 1975's set designs, plenty of artists use similar rectangular screens on their tours these days. Not to mention, Halsey is a huge fan of The 1975, so we doubt that she would ever intentionally steal from them.
