Halsey performed 'You Should Be Sad' and 'Finally // beautiful stranger' on Saturday Night Live to promote her album Manic.
Halsey has addressed critics slut-shaming her and telling her she should wear more clothes following her SNL performance.
Last weekend (Jan 25), Adam Driver hosted Saturday Night Live and Halsey was the musical guest. Halsey starred alongside Adam in a couple of skits ('Slow' and 'Cheerleading Show' are both hilarious) and performed 'You Should Be Sad' and 'Finally // beautiful stranger' (her latest singles). The 25-year-old star is currently in the midst of promoting her new album Manic.

Halsey's appearance was met predominantly with praise from fans and critics alike. However, it did spark some unwarranted controversy as certain viewers took to Twitter to complain about Halsey's outfits. Now, she's clapped back at them.
During the show, Halsey performed 'You Should Be Sad' in an embellished corset look and people complained that her outfit was inappropriate. One person tweeted: "Watching @halsey on #SNL and I’m so confused....is this Pop, Country or Porn??" and another wrote: "Why do some woman singers feel like they need to dress like that. Talent should be the main thing."
Essentially, people were slut-shaming Halsey for performing in clothes she wanted to perform in.

Wow halsey looks like a hooker. Why do some woman singers feel like they need to dress like that. Talent should be the main thing. She is really annoying. #SNL

Great song. I feel so sad that Halsey felt that she had to perform like she did.

She has beautiful songs. The recording industry is the worst.
Fight me. #SNL
It’s obvious from her performances that even Halsey knows she isn’t popular because of her singing. It’s about her body.

So why the hideous tattoos? Maybe she does them herself. Idk.
Good episode so far, but deserves a better MUSICAL guest.

Never one to let bullshit slide, Halsey took to Instagram stories to poke fun at everyone criticising her. Halsey shared a photo from her 'You Should Be Sad' performance and wrote: "I have great news for everyone who thought I should "put on some more clothes" for my SNL performance!" She then added: "for my second performance I DID!" with a photo to prove it.
Halsey also gave herself some expertly timed self-promo writing: "You can find them both on YouTube! Enjoy".
