Looks like a Halsey "8 Mile" movie is in the works.
A Halsey 8 Mile is on its way, according to Deadline.
Sony Pictures has closed a rights deal with the singer/songwriter, and apparently, while the storyline isn’t yet clear, it won’t be unlike the 2002 film about Eminem’s life.
But what would it cover? It is thought the film might loosely follow Halsey's own life story as as a biracial and bisexual singer who has made a name for herself as an activist for women, LGBT rights, and mental health. Halsey is expected to play the lead role.
Halsey rose quickly to fame with her debut studio album Badlands in 2015, and has a fascinating backstory that includes being technically homeless and a time she “had $9 in my bank account, and bought a four-pack of Red Bull and used it to stay up overnight over the course of two or three days, because it was less dangerous to not sleep than it was to sleep somewhere random”.
More recently, Halsey delivered a rousing, heartfelt speech to huge crowds at the women’s march in D.C. back in January and directed the video for her song “Alone”. Halsey is set to play a small role in Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born, so a film starring her as herself isn’t that out there.
Are you excited to see Halsey act in a film?
