"If you're an artist, poet, graphic designer, writer, film maker, music producer, journalist, make up artist, or creator of any kind, we want to see your work and want to help achieve your goals."

Halsey has launched an initiative to amplify the voices of black creators – and it will be funded entirely from her own team's pocket.

The Black Creators Fund will provide financial support, behind the scenes resources and access to industry contacts, as well as a promotional platform via Halsey's social media accounts, which include an audience of 20m followers on Instagram.

Announcing the fund on Twitter, Halsey wrote: "I am launching this to give funds, resources, and a platform to black creators. Looking for black creators who want to enrich the world with their work."

"We are launching a fund to help black creators and amplify their art, voice and perspective. This ongoing initiative will be entirely funded by the Halsey team," she wrote, later explaining to a fan that no donations were necessary.

"If you're an artist, poet, graphic designer, writer, film maker, music producer, journalist, make up artist, or creator of any kind, we want to see your work and want to help achieve your goals."

"In addition to funds, the artists will be promoted on my socials to help launch their platforms and we will help provide resources, information and points of contact, for as many people as we can."

The team will be announcing the "first gifting recipients" on June 18th.

Twitter and Instagram creators are being encouraged to share their work, and the work of others, with the hashtag #BLACKCREATORSFUND. The initiative is an ongoing one, which means it will continue for many more years to come.

Explaining the initiative further, Halsey's manager, Anthony Li, said: "Starting off, we’ll be gifting funds to black creators, as well as social media posts to help launch their platforms & amplify their art. Behind the scenes, we’ll be connecting the dots for other black creators, anything from introductions/points of contact or informational help."

Earlier this month (June 1), Halsey shared footage from the Black Lives Matter protests in Los Angeles that she attended. Taking to Instagram, she shared videos of police violence and slammed the use of rubber bullets against peaceful protesters.

She also spoke up about her privilege as a white-passing biracial woman, something she's touched on before in a 2017 interview with Playboy.
