Halsey took to Twitter to address accusations that she was "angry" at her fans at Bay Dreams festival in New Zealand.
Halsey has responded to claims that she "insulted" her fans, and Americans at large, during a recent show in New Zealand.
Halsey season is officially upon us. After months of teasing, the 25-year-old superstar is set to release her third studio album Manic in just two weeks (Jan 17). The project will feature the singles 'Without Me' and 'Graveyard', as well as collaborations with SUGA from BTS, Dominic Fike and Alanis Morisette. It will also include her lastest ballad 'Finally // beautiful stranger'.

Ahead of Manic's release in a fortnight, Halsey has been performing her new music at different festivals in Australia and New Zealand. Yesterday (Jan 2), Halsey headlined Bay Dreams festival and, while her set was met with praise, she did come under fire over some remarks she made about her fans. Now Halsey, has clapped back at the backlash.
Shortly after Halsey's performance at Bay Dreams, a video clip surfaced online of her telling the crowd: "You better show me why this is the best place in the world to perform 'cause right now you look like a bunch of fucking Americans." Immediately, the snippet of Halsey began gaining traction online with some fans finding it hilarious and other fans finding it insulting.
People then took to Twitter to call Halsey out for her comments and they even accused her of being rude to her fans. One person tweeted: "Imagine going to a music fest to see your favorite artist just to have her get angry and insult not just everyone there but all the american fans she's ever performed for. @halsey. that was pretty shitty, sis."
Halsey shut down the drama, though. She replied to the tweet writing: "not angry or insulting! it’s banter!!!!! the crowd at bay dreams was fucking epiccccc. one of the best ever. and my american crowds are notoriously mental too. it’s just jokes. i’d say the same thing to a crowd in, let’s say, scotland. “you look like a bunch of englishmen!” haha".

In other words, Halsey wasn't insulting anyone, she was just having fun with her fans like she always does. End of.
