This year's nominations will be announced today (12th September), with Coldplay and Alt-J in the running.
Emeli Sande is among the artists in contention to receive a nominations for this year's Mercury Prize.
The annual awards recognise artist's albums and the nominations will be unveiled in London later today (12th September).
Emeli's 'Our Version Of Events' has been backed to pick up a nomination following her performances at the London 2012 opening and closing ceremonies.
Coldplay's 'Mylo Xyloto', which included the single 'Princess Of China' featuring Rihanna, is also in the running, along with Florence + The Machine's 'Ceremonials' and Ed Sheeran's '+'.
Labrinth's 'Electronic Earth' is currently an outsider to secure a nomination alongside Rizzle Kicks' 'Stereo Typical'.
Alternative band Alt-J are the runaway favourites to win this year's Mercury Prize for their debut album 'An Awesome Wave'.

The Maccabees, The xx and Django Django are also eligible to pick up nominations.
The Mercury Prize winner will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Roundhouse in Camden, London on 1st November.
