The UK singer explains Taylor's supposed f-bomb during the MTV event in August.
Ed Sheeran has defended good friend Taylor Swift over claims she swore about ex Harry Styles during the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 two weeks ago.
The 'Lego House' star insists Taylor's reported comments were taken out of context and had actually been aimed at her friend Selena Gomez sat next to her at the ceremony.
Taylor was criticised after the show for being spotted mouthing "shut the f**k up" while Harry and his bandmates picked up an award on stage.
"I know what she said though! She rung me straight afterward and she was like, 'I think I've messed up'," Ed revealed in a press conference after the event, reports Cosmopolitan. "Selena said to her, she said, 'I think Miley's going to win the award over me'.
"And then, Taylor said, 'Oh shut the f**k up'," Ed explained. "And that's what that was!"

Selena eventually did pick up the award in question when her video for 'Come & Get It' was named Best Pop Video.
Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran are still taking her 'Red' tour across North America.
