The 'A Team' singer jokes that he now has enough songs to release a second album of material as well.
Ed Sheeran says he has written more songs than he ever has before over the past year while working on his new album, and joked that he may even release a rap-metal album if he has the time.
The 'Lego House' singer has been working on the follow-up to his 2011 debut '+' over the past year, expected to be released sometime in 2014, and says he has almost enough songs to make two full albums of different genres.
"I'm actually writing very specific songs to genres at the moment," Ed revealed to MTV News. "I've got a whole album of one genre and enough to make another of another genre.
"I want to release all of it now, but obviously you have to stagger things a bit," he continued. "It's been good, I've been writing more than I've ever written in my entire life, I've written a lot recently.

The 'Drunk' singer went on to reveal that a lot of his new songs have a bit of a hip-hop feel, before joking that he might turn into a new version of Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.
"It's probably closer to a hip-hop record to be honest, at the moment, but who knows, it might turn into a rap-metal record?" Ed joked. "I"ll buy a Yankees hat and turn it backwards. I'll become Ed Durst!"
The UK singer-songwriter recently revealed he has given himself a deadline of December this year to finish off the new album.
Ed Sheeran is currently out touring across North America with US star Taylor Swift.
