The 'A Team' singer told Emeli she has also been "smashing it" with her solo career.
Ed Sheeran has thanked Emeli Sande after the 'Heaven' singer congratulated him on his "incredible" achievement of scoring a number one in America.
The 'Lego House' star updated fans on Twitter earlier today to say that his debut album '+' had topped the US iTunes album chart this week following its release.
"What an Incredible achievement!! Congratulations Mr Sheeran!!!!! :D," Emeli tweeted out to Ed earlier today (12th June).
"You are smashing it too! lots of love, and see ya soon!" the 'Small Bump' singer later replied.
Ed also urged his American fans to purchase his debut single 'The A Team', after the song was made available to download for free for one week only.

The 21 year-old singer-songwriter headed back out to the US this week soon after his performance on Saturday (9th June) at the Capital FM Summertime Ball 2012, where he treated the 80,000 strong Wembley Stadium audience to a crowd-pleasing set of his biggest hits.
