The 'Paradise' stars speak ahead of their opening performance at the event at Wembley Stadium.
Coldplay have confessed that they are very "grateful" to have been on the line-up of the Summertime Ball 2012.
The 'Paradise' stars opened the event with a hit-laden set that included their singles 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' and 'Charlie Brown'.
Before taking to the stage, the group set down with Capital to speak about performing.
Asked how it was to be taking to the stage in front of 80,000 fans, the band laughed: "It's kind of a normal day- I'm joking.
"No, it's great it's going to be exciting," he added.
Guitarist Johnny Buckland explained the band's routine before taking to the stage saying they simply played music together
As the group were wished good luck, they admitted: "We do need it and we're very grateful to be here."
The band made their debut at the event today (9th June) alongside the likes of Usher, Justin Bieber, The Wanted and Jessie J.
