Shawn Mendes fans think his new butterfly tattoo is for Camila Cabello

Shawn Mendes fans think his new tattoo is a romantic tribute to his 'Señorita' duet partner.

Shawn Mendes just got a butterfly tattoo and fans are convinced it's a reference to his 'Señorita' collaborator and rumoured girlfriend Camila Cabello.

Last week (Jul 18), Shawn Mendes hilariously slid into a fan's DMs to ask her about a butterfly tattoo. @nasaruins had edited photos of Shawn to include a butterfly tattoo on his arm and she tweeted: "Shawn Mendes with a butterfly tattoo. I rest my case."

Shawn loved the edit so much that he retweeted it, writing: "Wait this is awesome, can u DM the drawing??". The rest is history. She messaged Shawn and now he has the tattoo which was originally designed by @macdreaper.

However, fans think that the tattoo has a deeper meaning and it's somehow connected to Camila Cabello.

Shawn is yet to post pictures of the tattoo but he posted a video of himself getting the ink done via Instagram stories at the weekend. Better yet, his tattoo artist Livia Tsang shared photos of Shawn sporting the new arm tattoo yesterday (Jul 22) on her Instagram page.

The tattoo itself is a butterfly but it's not any normal butterfly. One of its wings is made up entirely of flowers.

How is Shawn's new tattoo connected to Camila, though? Well, Camila loves butterflies and often uses them in her imagery. Camila's debut album artwork featured a portrait of her with a butterfly on her face and she even tweeted: "🦋 = symbol of resurrection... represents endurance, change, hope, and life..." shortly after releasing it.

As to what the flowers represent, Shawn's self-titled album art was a portrait of his face split with flowers.

In other words, it looks like the tattoo could be a visual symbol which connects Shawn to Camila. Given that the two stars have been seen holding hands and kissing in public recently, fans are certain the tattoo is for Camila.

Really romantic, right?!! Obviously Shawn could just love butterflies himself but we love this theory.
