The 'I Gotta Feeling' singers have insisted they are simply taking a temporary break from the band.
The Black Eyed Peas have refuted claims they are breaking up and insist they are simply taking a break to pursue other projects.
During an appearance on Ellen the 'Boom Boom Pow' singers explained it feels natural to take a short break at this stage in their career.
"We always have two cycles of records and then take a break," Will.i.am told host Ellen DeGeneres. "When we take breaks we work on side-projects, get a little personal stuff done in order to then come back and make, we think, beautiful music."
"We're taking a break. Not a break-up," he clarified.
Band member Fergie also hinted she may use the hiatus as the time to start a family with husband Josh Duhamel.
"I knew this was going to come up!" Fergie laughed, before admitted she is "definitely" keen to have children soon.
"Taboo did an interview the other day and it was lovely because I'm now on baby bump watch. It's when the paparazzi go right into your stomach – it's going to be a lot of fun."
Fergie explained that because of the band's hectic touring schedule over the past few years she hasn't had time to enjoy her family life properly.
The band released their video game 'The Black Eyed Peas Experience' on Nintendo Wii and Microsoft Xbox360 earlier this month.
