Billie Eilish told TMZ that uh, actually, her new mullet was a complete accident–'I'm growing it out!'
It wasn't so long ago that we were all raving about Billie Eilish's new mullet adjacent hairstyle. The singer debuted a shorter in the front, longer in the back look at the Gucci LACMA Art + Film Gala event earlier this month (2 November) and fans were convinced she was bringing back the iconic 80s/90s hairstyle.

But, as it turns out, Billie isn't making some sort of bold statement with her hair. No, Billie's new mullet is actually the result of a dye job gone horribly wrong. TMZ caught up with the 17-year-old superstar this week to ask her about all the mullet discourse surrounding her new hair and whether or not she was starting a "trend".
Billie seemed genuinely amused that people thought she'd got the hair cut on purpose. When asked whether it was a new trend, Billie spilled the beans on what had actually happened with the unusual new cut.
She said: "Listen, you know what happened? Somebody dyed my hair and they burned half of it off. So now it looks like a mullet. But that shit is not on purpose, though. I'm growing that shit out."
Imagine having to cut your hair because of dye job gone wrong and accidentally bringing back an entire trend from the 80s. Ugh, her mind.
Anyway, sorry to everyone who thought Billie was singlehandedly bringing back the mullet in 2019 (aka, me). Although, we're standing by the fact that Billie does pull it off.
Billie first debuted her now-signature green hair this summer and it was pretty much the inspiration for a million Halloween looks. Queen of accidentally starting hair trends.
