"It doesn't make you weak to ask for help." Billie opened up about helping friends and mental health struggles in an emotional new video for Seize The Awkward.
Billie Eilish has had a meteoric rise to fame over the last couple of years. The 17-year-old recently released her debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? Now, the singer has opened up about the importance of taking care of your mental health and being there for struggling friends in a new Seize The Awkward campaign video.
"It doesn't make you weak to ask for help" Billie says in the clip.
In the mental health campaign video, Billie offers advice on how to be there for a friend in need, saying "starting that conversation, you don't have to make it super serious right away."
Billie also explains that she's been in in that position of receiving a much-needed text from a friend or loved one at the right moment.
"Even if it's just a little bit more comfort, that can really mean a lot to someone," she said. "Because you don't know what is going on. Even in that moment, there could be something going on. And it's been like that for me. There have been certain people that have texted me right when I needed to be texted, saying they loved me and and that they were thinking about me. And it really means a lot."
The Seize The Awkward campaign aims to offer advice and resources for people who want to help a friend that is going through anxiety or depression.
Earlier this year, Billie told Beats 1 presenter Zane Lowe that "depression has controlled, sort of, everything in my life for my whole life".
