The wife of Barack Obama praises the new mother in a message on Twitter.
Michelle Obama has publicly thanked Beyonce after the singer wrote a letter describing the US president's wife as "the ultimate example of a truly strong African American woman".
The 'Countdown' star made the comments in an open letter to Michelle, who is married to Barack Obama, that she posted on her official website last week.
"No matter the pressure, and the stress of being under the microscope - she's humble, loving, and sincere," Beyonce wrote in the letter.
"She builds and nurtures her family, while also looking out for so many millions in so many ways."
Michelle took to her official Twitter account over the weekend to thank Beyonce for the kind words.
"Thank you for the beautiful letter and for being a role model who kids everywhere can look up to," the First Lady told Beyonce.
Meanwhile, Beyonce is set return to the stage next month for the first time since giving birth to her first child, Blue Ivy Carter.
