The 'Crazy In Love' star is thought to have named her child based on a unique tree in a local town.

Beyonce and Jay-Z's daughter Blue Ivy has been offered honorary citizenship in the Croatian Island of Hvar after it is believed the child's name was picked based on a tree in the area.

The 'Love On Top' star released a video earlier this year from a few months prior to the birth of her daughter where she could be seen talking about this unique tree.

"I think it's Blue Ivy – which would be quite appropriate," she admitted in the clip.

Since then, tourism has apparently been so strong in Hvar that Mayor Pjerino Bebic decided to celebrate and reward the couple's daughter.

"The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar," he said when making the announcement according to Ace Showbizz. "Because of this, I have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honorary citizen of the town of Hvar."

Beyonce has yet to confirm or reveal the inspiration behind her first child's name and rumours circulated this month that it was based on a poem by Rebecca Solnit called 'A Field Guide To Getting Lost' after the singer posted a section on her official Tumblr account.

Meanwhile, Beyonce could be set to make a return to the acting world after it was rumoured she is teaming up with close friend and wife of Coldplay's Chris Martin - Gwyneth Paltrow.

The singer returned to the stage back in May for a series of shows in Atlantic City during the US Memorial Day Weekend.
