Ariana Grande fans think she secretly features on Mac Miller's new song I Can See

I Can See is one of the standout tracks on Mac Miller's posthumous album Circles.

Mac Miller's Circles has been released today (Jan 15) and fans think that Ariana Grande sings backing vocals on 'I Can See'.

Circles is Mac Miller's final album. In a statement on Instagram, Mac's family explained that Mac "was well into the recording process of recording his companion album to Swimming, entitled Circles" when he passed away. They wrote that they knew it was "important to Malcolm for the world to hear it", so Mac's producer Jon Brion finished working on it and released it.

The project has so far been met with universal acclaim from fans and critics alike. Not only does it brilliantly showcase Mac's talent but it also hints at where he was taking his sound next.

People have also noticed that Track 5, 'I Can See', appears to feature harmonies from Ariana Grande. (Mac and Ariana dated between 2016 and 2018 and stayed close even after they split.)

Describing 'I Can See' to Apple Music, Jon Brion said: "I can tell you that the week I had to listen through stuff was a torture and a delight. Torture because of the loss. And then ‘I Can See’ would come up and I’d be beyond delighted because I’m like, ‘This is good by anybody’s standards, in any genre, this human being expressing themselves well."

In 'I Can See' Mac raps: "Cause Heaven too far when you live in the basement / I'm lookin' for balance, I'm in an oasis". In the chorus, Mac sings: "And now I know if life is but a dream then so are we / Show me something, show me something, show me something" and fans believe they can hear Ariana singing backing vocals behind him.

One fan tweeted: "i’m listening to mac’s new album and low key i am pretty sure it’s ariana’s vocals on “i can see” ??? i’m crying".

Another added: "ariana singing harmonies “i can see” from mac’s album? it’s beautiful." It sounds just like her.

Given Ariana's close relationship with Mac and his family, it seems likely that she does feature on the song. Ariana has liked all the official posts about the album on Instagram and even posted a link to it on her stories today (Jan 17).

It is yet to be confirmed whether or not the vocals are actually hers.
