Ariana Grande Fans Are 99.9% Sure That ‘Breathin’ Contains A Hidden Tribute To Her Grandpa

Ariana Grande is living her best life right now. Not only is she breaking major records with her fourth studio album Sweetener but she is also delivering amazing performances this era. From the BBMAs to the VMAs, the 'No Tears Left to Cry' hitmaker is killing it at every awards show this year. Not to mention, she recently got engaged to her fiancé Pete Davidson and they are all kinds of adorable together.

That's not all though. Ariana is also making waves with a new song that isn't even an official single yet. Within mere hours of dropping Sweetener last month, Ariana began topping iTunes charts around the world with one of the LP's standout tracks: 'Breathin'. The song is up there with Ariana's best work and now people have just realised that there's a super emotional message hidden in it.
On first listen you might mistake 'Breathin' for any one of Ariana's expertly produced euphoric bangers. It goes off. However, if you pay close attention to the lyrics, it's actually one of Ariana's most personal releases to date. The song details the 'One Last Time' singer's experiences with anxiety and it's nothing short of beautiful. To top it all off, it contains the most moving easter egg ever.
In the intro of the song, a short audio clip plays that is seemingly incoherent. However, fans have now reversed it and found out that it actually appears to be Ariana's own grandpa, Frank Grande, saying "Tonight is your special night. Do something magical". Our hearts. Frank passed away in 2014 but was really close to Ariana and was always supportive of her career.

Ariana is yet to confirm whether or not this theory is true but considering how close she was to her Grandpa, it seems pretty likely. If so, the song's lyrics could be directed to her from Frank. Lines like "you tell me everytime // 'Just keep breathin''" could infer that Ariana thinks of her Grandpa when she has anxiety to calm down.
