Ariana has addressed speculation that she has come out as bisexual in her 'Monopoly' lyrics...
Ariana Grande has opened up about her sexuality following assumptions that she has come out as bisexual.
On Monday (Apr 1), Ariana Grande and Victoria Monét released their surprise new single 'Monopoly' as a gift to their fans. In it, Ariana and Victoria trade lines about their friendship, achievements and life at large. It's a lowkey, celebratory bop and it's already Number 1 on US iTunes. However, it's not just sparking discussion because it slaps. People believe that Ariana has come out as bisexual in the song's lyrics and now Ariana has responded to the assumptions.
In the song, Ariana seems to imply that she is queer. During their verses, both Ariana and Victoria sing the line: "I like women and men" individually. Shortly after the lyrics came out, fans started speculating that Ariana had come out as bisexual in the track. Victoria publicly came out last year by tweeting: "I also like girls" but up until now Ariana had never made any public reference to being attracted to women.
While the reception to the line was overwhelmingly positive, people were quick to point out that Ariana still hadn't put a label on her sexuality; she hadn't come out as bisexual. One Arianator tweeted: "ariana ain’t gotta label herself, but she said what she said" and Ariana replied writing: "i haven’t before and still don’t feel the need to now which is okay". In other words, Ari doesn't label her sexuality.

Amazing. It's important to remember that while some people use labels to define their identities, others prefer not to use any at all. What's key is that we respect how everyone identifies (or doesn't identify) individually. On top of that, it's incredible to have two massively successful women sing openly about being on the LGBTQ+ spectrum in a hit song in 2019.
We have no doubt that Victoria and Ariana will inspire many listeners with this song.
