Ariana Grande season is here... not that it ever ended. In the space of just over eight months Ariana has released four smash hit singles ('no tears left to cry', 'God is a woman', 'breathin', 'thank u, next'), a critically acclaimed album (Sweetener) and a revealing tell all docuseries (the Dangerous Woman Diaries). However, she's only just getting started. Ariana just released a new song and video called '7 Rings' and she is rapping.

'7 Rings' is the second official single and third track from Ariana's upcoming fifth album thank u, next due out later this year. Ariana co-wrote it with her close friends and 'thank u, next' cowriters Victoria Monet and Tayla Parx. Opening up about the song on social media, Ariana revealed that '7 Rings' "is jus like ..... a flex. friendship anthem" and now the song is out and the lyrics are all braggadocios and iconic.

What do Ariana Grande's '7 Rings' lyrics mean?

The song samples 'My Favourite Things' from The Sound of Music and it's three minutes of trap-pop excellence. From really personal lines like "Been through some bad shit, I should be a sad bitch // Who woulda thought it'd turn me to a savage?" to hilarious lines comparing her money to her ass "When you see them racks, they stacked up like my ass", it's genius and the rap breakdown in the bridge slaps.

Amazing right? The ass lyric in particular is sending us. What's more, it is so fun to hear Ariana rap on a single! With its trap-infused production, we have no doubt that it will be a surefire hit. Plus the inspiration behind the song is adorable. It's called '7 Rings' because her and her best friends (Vic, Courtney, Alexa, Tayla, Njomza, Kaydence) all have matching rings.

Explaining how it was made, Ariana tweeted: "well ............. ‘twas a pretty rough day in nyc. my friends took me to tiffany’s. we had too much champagne. i bought us all rings. 💍 it was very insane and funny. & on the way back to the stu njomza was like ‘bitch, this gotta be a song lol’. so we wrote it that afternoon".
