The US comedian poked fun at Adele's weight and throat issues as part of comedic routine.
Joan Rivers has come under fire for making several jokes about Adele's weight during a late night US talk show appearance.
The 79 year-old comedian was appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman this week, when she revealed she had gotten to meet the 'Someone Like You' singer during the Oscars 2013 ceremony last Sunday (24th February).
When host David Letterman described the UK star as a "lovely woman", Joan went on to hold her arms out widely and puff out her cheeks in an obvious gag towards Adele's weight.
After being booed by the audience for her joke Joan said they were just trying to have an honest talk, before moving on to further mock the singer for her song 'Rolling In The Deep'.
"What's her song? 'Rolling In The Deep'? She should add fried chicken," Joan teased, before adding: "We got along. She was very scared because she said she sang at the awards.
"She said, 'My throat, my throat. I don't know if I can swallow'," Joan recalled. "So I told her, 'You can swallow!"
Joan continued to receive boos from the show's live audience for her gags at Adele's expense throughout the segment.
