Singer's hit 'Someone Like You' beats songs by Lady Gaga and Katy Perry in Los Angeles.
Adele thanked the doctors who saved her voice as she collected the first major award of the night at the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles tonight (12th February).
The British singer, who underwent successful throat surgery last November, delivered an emotional speech as she collected the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for 'Someone Like You'.
"Thank you. I should take my shoes off really I'm too tall. I'm getting emotional already," she said.
"My life changed when I wrote this song. I felt it before anyone heard it. As this is a singing award, I suppose I should thank my doctors who got my voice back."
Adele beat the likes of Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars to take home the honour.
Capital will be coming live from the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles throughout the night.
