MTV VMAs 2012: Performers

One Direction and Alica Keys are the first names confirmed for the industry event in September.
One Direction have been confirmed as one of the star performers at the MTV Video Music Awards 2012.
The 'Gotta Be You' stars are up for a host of awards on the night including Best New Artist and Best Pop Video and will take to the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on 6th September.
Grammy Award winning star Alicia Keys is also confirmed to appear live at the industry event.
Some of the biggest stars in the world of music will be in attendance with Rihanna and Drake are leading the way with a total of five nominations each in a variety of categories including for their collaboration 'Take Care'.
The Video Of The Year category will see both stars and the likes of M.I.A, Katy Perry and Gotye go head to head for the prestigious award.

The performance will mark the latest high profile US TV spot for the British boyband who have also appeared at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards this year.
Meanwhile, One Direction are currently working on their new studio album which will reportedly be released later this year.
