The 'I Feel Love' star is understood to have lost her battle with cancer.
Donna Summer, best known for the disco hit 'I Feel Love', has died at the age of 63.
US gossip website TMZ said the five-time Grammy Award winning had passed away following a long battle with cancer.
Her death comes at a time when she was apparently working on a new album.
Born on New Year's Eve 1948 in Boston, Donna began singing in church before launching her music career in the late 1960s.
Her career began to blossom in the 1970s thanks to singles including 'Love To Love You Baby', 'Last Dance' and the disco classic 'I Feel Love'.
She is survived by her husband Bruce Sudano, two children and their grandchildren.
