The 'We Found Love' singer's interview with Oprah reveals details about the former couple's relationship.
Rihanna has said that she and Chris Brown still love each other and have become "very close friends" again.
The 'Talk That Talk' singer made the revelations during a candid interview with American talk show host Oprah Winfrey, which aired in the US last night (19th August).
Rihanna and Chris dated for two years, but split in February 2009 after the 'Turn Up The Music' singer assaulted her on the eve of the Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.
Speaking about their relationship today, Rihanna said they were "very close friends", adding: "We built a trust again and that's it. We love each other and we probably always will."
Rihanna called the assault "embarrassing" and "humiliating" and, at the time, said she felt like she had "lost my best friend".
Rihanna's much-anticipated interview with Oprah broadcast last night on the talk show hosts on channel, OWN:
"We've been working on our friendship again and now we're very close friends," she said. "And that's not anything we're going to try to change."
But RiRi admitted that she finds it hard seeing Chris, who she called "the love of my life", because her feelings are so strong.
"It's awkward because I still love him," she said. "My stomach drops and I have to maintain this poker face and not let it get to the outer part of me.
"I have to maintain it and suppress it. When you don't understand those feelings you can make a lot of mistakes."
While Rihanna is currently single, Chris is in a relationship with model Karrueche Tran.
