The 'We Found Love' singer has reportedly backed the Girls Aloud star to join the judging panel of the US music reality show.
Rihanna has apparently given her backing to Cheryl Cole joining American Idol after reports circulated this week that the show's executives are looking to get the Girls Aloud star on board for the next series.
The 'Parachute' singer has already reportedly refuted the claims, however, she has received high words of praise from the Bajan star.
"I can completely see why the producers at American Idol are trying to get Cheryl," she told the Daily Star. "She would be amazing."
The Bajan star highlighted her short time on The X Factor USA and thinks the 'Call My Name' singer has gone on to have great success since despite the controversial circumstances of her leaving Simon Cowell's show.
"She was received so well on the US X Factor and most people couldn’t really understand the decision to let her go," she continued. "Since then she has gone from strength to strength, and is fast becoming a movie star over here.
There have also been rumours suggesting Jennifer Lopez is set to leave her position on the show and RiRi thinks Cheryl could easily fit into the 'On The Floor' star's shoes.
She added: "I don't know if Jennifer plans to stay another season or not but Cheryl would be a great replacement for her. The only thing Cheryl needs to consider is that it’s so time-consuming."
Cheryl is currently appearing in the new Hollywood film What To Expect When You're Expecting alongside the likes of J-Lo and Cameron Diaz and recently wowed fans on the red carpet of the UK premiere of the film in a stunning white dress.
