The Neptunes star and the Disney singer are the latest names in contention after Mariah Carey recently signed up.
Pharrell Williams and Nick Jonas are the latest stars tipped to take over from Steven Tyler on American Idol.
Mariah Carey was recently confirmed as the replacement for Jennifer Lopez following her and the Aerosmith man's departure from the music reality series earlier this month.
An inside source told Us magazine that the Jonas Brothers singer has already been meeting with executives for the show,
"Nick is pretty close to signing to be the Idol judge," they said. "They flew him in to L.A. last week for final meetings."
The source continued: "[Producers] think he can help bring that younger demo to the show."
Pharrell is also close to finalising a deal to appear on the show with the insider revealing that they are ironing out the details.
"Everything is looking good, but they're still working out details," they added.
Adam Lambert, Will.i.am and Nicki Minaj have all been linked with a position on the show.
Former American Idol champion Adam told Capital that he would "jump" at the chance to join the show.
