The 'One Thing' singer has deactivated his account of over five million followers after being "sick" of abuse.
One Direction star Zayn Malik has quit Twitter after claiming he is "sick" of the online abuse he has been getting on the popular social networking website.
The 'Gotta Be You' singer, who had over five million followers, deactivated his account yesterday (21st August) after announcing his departure from the site in a final message to his fans.
"The reason I don't tweet as much as I use to is because I'm sick of all the useless opinions and hate that I get daily goodbye twitter :)," Zayn tweeted, shortly before deleting his official account. "My fans that have something nice to say can tweet me on the one direction account, :) x."
Despite toning down the number of tweets he has been sending over the past several months, Zayn's Twitter followers quickly rallied and managed to get hashtags including '#ComeBackZayn' and '#ZaynComeBack' trending on Twitter in an effort to convince the 19 year-old to change his mind.
