The 'One Thing' stars are believed to have been lined up as guest mentors for the live launch this weekend.
One Direction are reportedly set to appear on the first episode of The X Factor UK live shows this weekend as "extra mentors" backstage for the current crop of contestants.
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' stars will also allegedly by interviewed by The X Factor host Dermot O'Leary for their advice to the singing hopefuls, after coming runners-up on the 2010 series of the show.
"X Factor is where it all began for One Direction so it makes sense for them to come back and perform," a show insider revealed to The Mirror today (5th October). "Making an appearance on Saturday means they are the secret weapon that could tip the balance in the ratings war.
They added: "They've also said they'll act like extra mentors backstage for this first weekend."
