The video for the band's new single eclipses Justin Bieber's 'Boyfriend' after world premiere last week.
One Direction's new video for 'Live While We're Young' has smashed the record for the most number of views in 24 hours on VEVO.
The group's latest video secured 8.24 million views after it was debuted last Thursday (20th September). Justin's video for 'Boyfriend' got eight million views in 24 hours when it was unveiled earlier this year.
One Direction were formerly part of VEVO LIFT in America, which saw their US audience grow massively during an eight-week campaign.
Steve Barnett, chairman of One Direction’s American record label Columbia, said the support of VEVO had helped the band's exposure.
"We begged for the VEVO LIFT, it's instant — the numbers were quite extraordinary. It was a massive part of our success in American," he said. "VEVO had more impact than anything else [for One Direction]. I've never seen anything work as quickly."
One Direction emerge from a tent in the video for their new single 'Live While We're Young':
The group unveiled the video for 'Live While We're Young' earlier than planned last week after a low-quality version of it leaked online.
The song, released on the 30th September, is the first single to be taken from One Direction's forthcoming new album 'Take Me Home'.
