The 'One Thing' stars admit the enthusiastic supporters of the group were caught trying to get in the back entrance of a venue.
One Direction have revealed that they caught a group of fans hiding in the bins outside a venue on their US tour in an attempt to meet the boy band.
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' stars have been causing huge hysteria during their current North American tour with hundreds of screaming fans following their every move.
Singer Zayn Malik recalled the incident to the Daily Mirror: "They got busted. They hid in a bin and tried to come in the back entrance."
A source also revealed to the publication that security for the group are on constant alert and searching any possible hiding places for waiting fans.
"The methods fans are using are getting more ingenious. Some have been regularly booking out rooms in their hotel - some even tried to dress up as staff.
"But the boys' minders won't be letting any of these tricks get past them. They'll look in every bin if they have to," they added.
Meanwhile, the band recently revealed that singer Liam Payne has broken his toe on the band's current tour after he dropped his computer on his foot.
