One Direction Win Best UK And Ireland Act Ahead Of MTV EMAs 2012 In November

The 'Gotta Be You' stars received the most votes to pick up the award for the UK and Ireland.
One Direction have been announced as winners of the Best UK/Ireland Act ahead of the MTV Europe Music Awards (2012 MTV EMA).
The 'One Thing' singers were confirmed as winners of the coveted prize earlier today (15th October), and will be presented with their award at the official ceremony in Frankfurt in early November.
One Direction received the most votes from fans to be named the best act of the UK and Ireland, and will now compete against fellow winners from across Europe for a chance to represent the region in the Worldwide Act award category.
"We're so happy and incredibly honoured to have won this," Louis Tomlinson said, after hearing the news. "Once again our amazing fans have done us proud - thanks so much as always to you all!"
The 'What Makes You Beautiful' five-piece have also been nominated in categories for Best New Act and Biggest Fans at next months ceremony, where Rihanna and Taylor Swift lead the overall nominations with six and five each, respectively.

Earlier today Louis also announced that 'Little Things' will serve as the second single from their new album 'Take Me Home', following the success of lead track 'Live While We're Young' last month.
The MTV Europe Music Awards 2012 is set to take place on 11th November in Frankfurt, and will feature confirmed performances from the likes of Taylor Swift, Carly Rae Jepsen, Fun. and Rita Ora.
One Direction will release new album 'Take Me Home' on 12th November.
