The 1D star is set to embrace a more edgy sound after working with this top Grime producer...
Having only signed his solo record deal recently, we've been excited to see what direction Liam would take his music.
So we were really interested to hear about a late night studio session that he just had.
Is This British Superstar Going To Headline The Super Bowl Halftime Show In 2017?
The session was with top Grime producer Krunchie, who has previously created hugely successful tracks for the likes of Stormzy and Lady Leshurr, alongside his well-respected production partner Zdot.
Talking to a tabloid, a source said, "Krunchie has inspired Liam by teaching him more about a new area of music and hopes one of their tracks will be his debut solo single."
"Liam wants to make it clear that he’s not just about cheesy ballads. He’s a serious musician with many different strengths."
He's just signed a deal with Capitol and since then little has emerged about when we can expect new music or what it might sound like.
Happy to have signed to @CapitolUK. They have an amazing history of artists, I hope I can follow in their footsteps pic.twitter.com/tVlDsXVVW3

So are we going to be seeing Liam spitting some bars on his solo material? Are features with Skepta and Wiley in his future?
Apparently he's just exploring some new styles, so we won't start calling him MC Payne just yet.
