The 'Marry The Night' singer says she wanted to send a strong message during the awards show.
Lady Gaga has named her infamous meat dress from the MTV VMAs 2010 as her favourite ever stage outfit.
The 'Applause' singer caused huge controversy when she arrived on the red carpet of the MTV event three years ago dressed in a dress seemingly made entirely out of red meat, and says she loved that it kept celebrities away from her at the ceremony.
"The meat dress!" Gaga revealed, when asked on Watch What Happens Next which of her many outfits is her favourite. "Also on a more serious note, it was because Don't Ask, Don't Tell had been repealed.
"I wore the meat that night as a statement about equality, that we're all equal because we're all flesh, right?" Gaga explained. "It's kind of morbid, but we're dead it doesn't matter what your sexuality is."
Gaga went on to explain that, despite the important message of equality, there was also a more practical advantage to the outfit.
"I didn't ant to talk to any celebrities and it smelled really bad!" she added.
