The 'Marry The Night' star plays a femme fatale style character called La Chameleon.
Lady Gaga will make her official film debut in director Robert Rodriguez' new film Machete Kills.
The Sky Kids creator announced on Twitter that the 'Born This Way' star had been cast as La Chameleon in the sequel to his original action exploitation film Machete, which stars Danny Trejo as the lead character.
"I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills," Robert tweeted last night (26th July). "She kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!"
The Sin City director then posted a link to a movie poster for Machete Kills featuring Lady Gaga posing with a smoking gun while wearing a wolfskin wrap.
"Yes its true, I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS by @RODRIGUEZ IM SO EXCITED!!! AH! Filming was insane," Gaga posted soon after, confirming her involvement with the project.
Machete Kills also features a cast including the likes of Charlie Sheen, Jessica Alba and Zoe Saldana, although a release date for the film has yet to be announced.

Earlier this week Lady Gaga spoke out in support of troubled Hollywood couple Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson, claiming the press treatment of them had been "brutal" in the wake of revelations about Kristen cheating on the Twilight star.
Lady Gaga will kick off the next leg of her 'Born This Way Ball' world tour in just over two weeks with a show scheduled in Sofia, Bulgaria in Europe for 14th August.
