The 'California Gurls' singer says her recent guest-hosting stint topped off an incredible year for her over the past twelve months.
Katy Perry has described hosting Saturday Night Live as the "cherry on top" after all of her success in 2011.
The 'Last Friday Night' singer guest-hosted on the iconic sketch show this weekend (10th December) where she performed alongside notable guest stars like Kristen Wiig and Alec Baldwin.
"It's a cherry on top, most definitely," Katy told MTV News. "You hear with different monologues of different hosts every week, it sounds a bit repetitive and stereotypical about how this is their dream come tru to host SNL.
"But it really is each and every one of our dreams come true to host SNL. To just have fun, goof off, try and make some people laugh."
Katy noted that if her appearance on the sketch show was not well received she would "stick to music" in the future.
The 'ET' singer also spoke about the importance of allowing women to show off their comedic skills on a stage like Saturday Night Live.
"I like females that are OK with making fun of themselves. They don't have to play gorgeous and serious all the time. They can play stupid and funny and self-deprecating. I love that."
Katy Perry has had a successful twelve months having completed 124 dates on her 'California Dreams' tour, starred in summer film The Smurfs and been nominated two two Grammy awards in 2012.
The 'Teenage Dream' singer was also presented with a special achievement prize at the American Music Awards in November
