Katy Perry has been spotted in public for the first time since splitting from her husband Russell Brand.

The 'California Gurls' singer posed for a picture with a fan on the set of a new TV commercial in Santa Barbara, California.

Eric Berlanger, the lucky fan who got to meet Katy, told Us Weekly that the singer seemed in good spirits.

He said: "It was great to see her. I met her a couple times before. I am a big fan! She was great, really nice. She seemed happy."

Russell Brand filed for divorce from Katy at the end of December, citing irreconcilable differences for the split. The couple had been together for 14 months.

Earlier this month, Katy took to Twitter to hit out a the tabloid speculation surrounding her split from Russell and told her fans not to pay attention to any gossip.
