The evening also saw Beyonce, Usher and Rihanna all picking up awards for their music.

The American Music Awards 2012 was held in Los Angeles last night (18th November) and saw the likes of Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry all walking away with awards.

Usher opened the show with a crowd-pleasing medley of hits including 'Numb' and 'Climax', while artists including Beyonce, Carly Rae Jepsen and Rihanna were all honoured with gongs over the course of the evening.

'Boyfriend' singer Justin picked up the highly coveted Artist Of The Year award, as well as both Pop/Rock Male Artist and an award for his 2012 album 'Believe', while Justin's protege Carly Rae Jepsen was named New Artist Of The Year.

Nicki Minaj also had a successful haul at the annual ceremony after winning both Rap/Hip-Hop Artist and Rap/Hip-Hop Album for her latest record 'Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded'.

Other winners on the night included David Guetta for Electronic Dance Music Artist, Adele for Adult Contemporary Artist and Taylor Swift for Country Female Artist.

The American Music Awards 2012 saw memorable performances from a host of today's biggest stars including Justin Bieber, Nicki Minaj, Ke$ha, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Swift and a team-up between PSY and MC Hammer.
