Note to self: Play it REAL cool like Hailey Baldwin when meeting a superstar like Justin Bieber, and they just might be persuaded to put a ring on it.

The world took a collective gasp as it emerged that Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin had got engaged in the Bahamas after only a month of dating, as one of the world's most sought after pop stars has officially been taken off the market by one of the biggest supermodels in the world. Sounds about right.

Now, this adorable video of the couple's first ever encounter has emerged from all the way back in 2009- when the Beibs had his trademark teen heartthrob haircut and Hailey resembles every moody teen ever. 

What appears to be backstage at a meet and greet, Justin and Hailey, who was just 13-years old at the time, very cordially shake hands, a far cry from the fangirls he was used to encountering, and just maybe that cool introduction was the start of their on-off 8 relationship?!

Ariana Grande, who is also signed to Scotter Braun's management, has leapt to Justin's defence from haters saying the engagement was too sudden, as she too got engaged to Pete Davidson after just a few weeks of dating...

She clapped back to a fan, saying: “You do realize we are human being who love and have lives… right? And that Scooter is a wonderful human being too who cares first n foremost [about] our health and happiness?”

In the famous words of 2009 Bieber, there's one less lonely girl in the world... but approximately 3.5 billion broken hearts. Sigh.
