The 'Next To Me' singer took to the stage for an emotional rendition of the hymn 'Abide With Me' at last night's spectacular.
Emeli Sande was one of the surprise performers at last night's (27th July) London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.
The Scottish singer gave an emotional and flawless rendition of the song 'Abide With Me' during one of the most moving sections of the huge three hour long show.
Dizzee Rascal, Sir Paul McCartney and the Arctic Monkeys were also among the star performers on the night with The Beatles star closing proceedings.
Taking to her Twitter account following the show, Emeli revealed how thankful she was to have been asked to perform admitting it was a moment she will never forget.
"I will never ever forget tonight, thank you so much to Danny Boyle and all his team for this incredible experience," she tweeted.

The entire ceremony was masterminded by Oscar winning director Danny Boyle and featured such moments as The Queen meeting James Bond, Rowan Atkinson performing quintessential Mr.Bean moves during Chariots Of Fire and a passing of the torch between David Beckham and Sir Steve Redgrave.
There was also a section dedicated to the past 40 years of pop culture with Rizzle Kicks' 'When I Was A Youngster' starting the sequence.

Tracks from The Who, David Bowie, Queen and New Order were all included in the montage.
The games began earlier this week with the men's and women's football tournaments starting the two week long sporting extravaganza.
